Curtiss P40 Kittyhawk Mk.III


This skin represents a Kittyhawk Mk.III of the N 450 RAAF Squadron (239 Wing).
This unit first used Hurricanes in the middle east, fighting the Vichy French Air Forces over Syria and Lebanon from june to December 1941.
The N 450 RAAF Squadron receives then Kittyhawks and is sent to Egypt to face the German offensive. The unit, known as "the Desert Harassers" is spicialized in strafing and bombing missions in the skies of Tobruk, El-Alamein, Tripoli, Kairouan, and claims 39 confirmed  air kills (+ 19 probable) for the heavy losses of 70 Kittyhawks.
After the landing in Sicily, the N 450 RAAF Squadron makes its first missions over Europe (Messine, Salerne, Yougoslavia, Monte Cassino...) and fought in Italy till the end of the war, receiving few few Mustang III in the last months.
The Italian campaign cost about 50 Kittyhawks (Accidents, or shot down by the Flak).


It is intended For use with Charles Gunst's ECA (Enemy Coast Ahead) Panel.
To use, unzip the *.tpc files, the *.3dz files and place in your EAW directory.

Capitan Manducas work for the landing gear doors and pitot tube was also used and incorporated into the new model.
Claudio Wilches has made the cockpit for this plane, with completely new interior and wing views. Claudio also built the non mirrored view for the medium distance model and fixed a 3DZ problem with the cockpit height.
